Doktor Kaboom is the creation of actor and comedian David Epley. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, David first explored his passion for science in a lab he built in his parents’ basement—after cleaning the basement first, of course. (Clever parents!)
That love for hands-on learning grew into formal study at the prestigious North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. A ground-breaking residential high school, NCSSM offered rare luxuries for the time, including PhD professors, its own electron microscope, and a mainframe network with campus-wide internet back before most people knew what the internet was. From there, David continued his science education at the university level, studying chemistry and biomedical engineering.
Origin Story
Along the way, however, he discovered a second passion: performing. By merging the two, David created the most fulfilling work of his life. Over a 19-year career as Doktor Kaboom, he has performed more than 2,500 live science comedy shows to a cumulative audience of over 2.5 million students and families worldwide.
David believes deeply in public service, is a veteran of the United States Army and a former firefighter and EMT.

Home is now Seattle, Washington, which he shares with his wonderful wife, Annie Lareau.
They have two amazing adult daughters.
